Gaeilge
The teaching of Gaeilge in our school is focused on developing pupils' ability to communicate in the Irish language, as well as fostering an appreciation and understanding of Irish culture and heritage.
In Scoil Mhuire, we are committed to providing a rich and engaging experience for all pupils. We use a range of strategies and approaches to support pupils in developing their Irish conversation skills, reading and writing and their knowledge of Irish grammar and vocabulary.
We have developed a Comhrá programme for our entire school. This programme teaches the necessary vocabulary and phrases to allow all pupils to talk and write in Irish about a wide range of topics.
We use a communicative approach to teaching Irish, where pupils are encouraged to use the language in a meaningful and authentic way.
We also integrate technology into our teaching, using interactive screens and online resources to engage pupils and support their learning.
We also celebrate and explore Irish culture and heritage through events like Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish language week) and we aim to use Irish throughout the school day.
The teaching of Gaeilge is a fundamental part of our pupils' educational experience, and we are committed to providing high-quality, engaging, and effective instruction in this subject.
